Kookaburra

A kookaburra is an ausratian bird also known as the kingfisher whse harsh cry sounds like a laugh. This song is perfect for a round but you can sing it on your own.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry, merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, kookaburra,
Laugh, kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Eating all the gum drops he can see.
Stop, Kookaburra,
Stop, Kookaburra,
Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see.
Stop, Kookaburra,
Stop, Kookaburra,
That's no monk--that's me!

camp good dog

once upon a time we did the test of camp good dog. it was so cool! Lucy, my dog, swam in the puppy pond and we watched her. we roamed around on the big plane behind the house and explored the island with her. the 2 places we did not go with her were the puppy pond and the bog. Those were too wet. The grow-ups didn't do anything with her.

Scottish terrier

Scottis terriers come in wheaten, red brindle, Black, and black brindle. Even though these dogs seem to be scottish, as you all know, they really come from great briatain. As one of the terrier group it is their responsibility to be good with city life, good in cold weather, not easy to obedience train, a good gaurd dog, and, overall, lovable. as you will know if you have one of these dogs, they have long destinctive eyebrows, a harsh, thick topcoat, with a soft undercoat, a very sturdy muscular build, it's tapering tail is carried up, and it's hindquarters are extremely powerful. Also knwn as the Aberden terrier these are the ideal dog for a quiet houese.

unicorns

The first description of a unicorn that anyone can find was written 2300 years ago by a greek docter named Ctsias. He callet the beast the "monoceros." (in greek, mono neans one and ceros means horn. Here is most of his research: There are in india certain wild asses wich are as large as horses or larger. Their bodies are white, their hed, and their heads dark red, and their eyes dark blue. They have a horn on the forehead wich is about a foot and half in length. The base of this horn, for some 2 hands' breadth above the brow, is pure white, the upper portion is sharp and of a vivid crimson, and the middle portion is black. The animal is exeedingly swift, so that no other creature can overtake it.

The nose is black and the kindly eyes are brown with dark rims. The ears are medium-sized and pendant. Its neck and thighs are muscular and the chest is broad. The tail is long, but never curled.

These are lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dogs with a great charm. They are easily trained, and always patient and gentle with children. Loyal, confident, sweet and eager to please. It is active, loving and an outstanding family dog. Golden Retrievers enjoy pleasing their masters, so obedience training can be fun. They excel in obedience competitions. Friendly with everyone, including other dogs, the Golden Retriever has very little, if any, guarding instincts. While unlikely to attack, Goldens make good watchdogs, loudly signaling a stranger's approach. This breed needs to be around people who display leadership to be happy. The Golden Retriever may become mischievous and/or high-strung, over-exuberant and distractible if he is lacking in daily mental and physical exercise. Be sure to remain this dogs firm, but calm, confident, consistent pack leader to avoid behavioral issues. Some of the Golden's talents are hunting, tracking, retrieving, narcotics detection, agility, competitive obedience, and performing tricks. These dogs also love to swim.

Exercise
The Golden Retriever needs to be taken on a daily, brisk, long walk, jog or run alongside you when you bicycle, where the dog is made to heel beside or behind the person holding the lead, as instinct tells a dog that the leader leads the way and that leader needs to be the human. In addition, they like to retrieve balls and other toys. Be sure to exercise this dog well to avoid hyper activity. Do not overfeed, as he tends to put on weight.
Life Expectancy
About 10-12 years
Grooming
The smooth, medium-haired double coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, paying particular attention to the dense undercoat. Dry shampoo regularly, but bathe only when necessary. This breed is an average shedder.
Origin
The Golden Retriever was first developed in the British Isles, probably from crosses between a yellow Flat-Coated Retriever, light-coated Tweed Water Spaniels, other spaniels, setters and even the Newfoundland and possibly the Bloodhound. In fact the breed was first shown as a Golden Flat-Coat. The Golden is one of the world's foremost family companion dogs. Many of the top obedience competition dogs in the country are Golden retrievers. The Golden is also a fine bird dog on both land and in the water. He has an excellent nose and has been used not only for hunting and tracking, but also for narcotics detection. Because of his great desire to please and capacity for love and learning, the Golden Retriever is also used as a guide for the blind, therapy dog, and service dog for the disabled.

Rusty the Golden Retriever out on a pack walk with his owner. Rusty is a very high energy dog and the back pack helps slow him down making it easier for him to heel. It gives the dog a sense that he has a job; to carry the pack and the items in it.

"Two Golden Retriever brothers on a nice sit-stay in their backyard, looking pretty for the camera. On the left is Little Du, 5 years old, and on the right is Rocky, 6 years old. Rocky is a Delta Society-registered therapy dog and visits nursing homes and hospitals. Dutchy begins his training in the winter. Both have done agility classes as well and are much adored by their human family. Woof!"

"This is my baby, my pride & joy. Her name is Sierra. Sierra is a purebred Golden Retriever. My husband and I have been together for 18 years and for 17 of those I have begged him to get a dog. Finally he gave in and the hunt began. He was reluctant to get a dog because we lived in an apartment (we live in a house now) and we worked all day. He didn't think it was fair for the dog. It's funny because when we got her it was November and someone mentioned, "Dog Whisperer" so I started watching it. I am so glad I did. I learned so much from him. I would tape it, and when I got home from work, after walking Sierra we would sit and watch it (and play) together . The patience I learned from that man. It was hard raising a puppy after 30 years of not having one. I grew up with a dog and a cat. The biggest thing that helped me was remembering repetition and praise. Sierra was a quick learner. Not a piece of our furniture or shoes or anything got chewed. Sierra has adapted very well. She is so good natured. She loves to cuddle up by our feet and you can't say the word Truck without her running to the back door to go for a ride. Since she was a baby we take her almost everywhere with us. We found a wonderful dog park that she loves to play in. She was a litter of 5 and when we went to pick her out I did the moving of the finger to see which one would pay attention and she was the one. She is so smart and brings such joy to me on the otherwise not so joyful days. Just her greeting me at the door with a High Five brightens my day. We got lucky with sierra. My husband who didn't want a dog is so good with her. He loves to take her to the parks and walk with her. I think he said something about her being a chick magnet. LOL, I could go on and on."

"This is Casey, my adorable, cream colored golden baby, at 12 months old. She is such a cutie. She loves nothing more than a run in the woods in the mornings and evenings, and snuggling up then when she is tired. She loves chasing balls and sticks and can play all day long. She loves her comfort too though and a nice big hug! She knows a lot of commands, sit, stay, wait, lie down, twirl around, leave it, walks to heel and is very quiet and obedient. She is very loving and affectionate and gets on brilliant with all other animals. She really is a little gem xxxx
This is some very good golden reteiver information.
